ABOUT US

Private general secondary education institution "Gymnasium A+" is a modern school for motivated and creative children, which gives students high level of academic knowledge, develops personality and allows access to world-class education. Ihor and Ivanna Nikonov are founders and ideological inspirers of Gymnasium A+.

We help students achieve their personal goals, identify their own pathways, because each child is unique on their way to success. We guarantee that all students will achieve academic excellence and gain social and emotional skills, will be able to apply critical thinking strategies. We believe that our students will become successful people able to find their way in modern changing world. Gymnasium A+ functions for students of 5-11 (12) grades as a full-day school. The main goal of Gymnasium is to prepare students for lifelong learning, active social life, economical and professional activity in future.

Educational programme of Gymnasium A+ includes all compulsory subjects of Ukrainian curriculum, as well as additional subjects of students' choice. Individual development plan is the basis of what student does at the Gymnasium A+.This includes a personal goal for each student, which may be related to a certain field of study, as well as with the student's personal interests. During school year students take part in subject competitions, creative contests, competitions in various sports, discussion clubs and master classes, workshops, clubs, educational excursions and leisure activities that are held for them.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME

Educational programme of Gymnasium A + provides systematic knowledge, meaningful and high-quality general training of the student. Our educational process is based upon the best traditions of Ukrainian education, which are harmoniously combined with progressive foreign teaching methods.

Focusing on the challenges of the present, we build project-technology educational process based on the practical activities of the student and work with specific cases that can be offered not only by the teachers of the institution, but also by real employers from various fields of economics, science, culture and sport.

Educational programme is aimed at forming key students competencies:
● communication in the official and native languages;
● communication in foreign languages (English, German, French, Spanish);
● mathematical and ICT competence;
● competence in science and technologies;
● cultural awareness and self-expression;
● environmental awareness;
● healthy and active lifestyle;
● initiative and entrepreneurial attitude;
● social and civic activity;
● lifelong learning.

The competencies listed are equally important and interconnected. Each of them will be acquired while learning different subjects at all stages of study. Common skills for all competencies are:
● critical thinking;
● logical justification of own point of view and expressing opinion (in verbal and written forms);
● initiative;
● problem solving, evaluation of risks and decision-making;
● creativity;
● emotional intelligence;
● teamwork.

School day structure

School day structure implies that after the academic part students have time for rest, self-training, as well as work in educational studios, where students can change activity after the school day and get additional education. After the end of a school day (from 18:30), students can attend extracurricular A+ educational studios.
